Philosophy of Care

Privacy

The right of a resident to be left alone and undisturbed when they are well, within their illness, or if they are near their end of life.

Choice

Giving a resident the opportunity to select for themselves from a range of alternative options to maximise the quality of an individual’s care and ensure no deprivation of liberties, even in their end of life. All activities will be encouraged from a resident-centred approach. Residents are able to setup internet access on a paid service with a service provider of their choice. We have a wide range of diverse staff who communicate in a number of different languages.

Dignity

The understanding and promotion of residents’ needs, rights and choices, respecting those needs and choices when they are well, within their illness, or near their end of life. All staff are encouraged to become dignity champions.

Rights

Keeping all basic human rights available to the residents ensuring there is no deprivation of liberties. To be re skilled at a pace they feel confident with, teaching them how to access and exercise their rights.

Independence

Allowing a resident to take calculated risks, to make their own decisions, thinking and acting for themselves within the limitations of their illness. To have active input into their care plan/advanced care plan if they have the capacity to do so, consenting to the treatment plans in place. If this is unobtainable, we will act in the resident’s best interest involving people who are pertinent to their lives to assist us in making a decision in their best interest. To work towards re-enablement.

Fulfillment

Enabling the resident to realise his/her own aims and helping  to achieve these goals in all aspects of daily living. Recognising these achievements no matter how small the outcome. Facilitating each resident to achieve less supported living.

“Our ethos is to provide an environment where our residents can lead a fulfilling life and remain as independent as possible, whilst respect our residents’ capabilities, desires and individually.”

— Laiba Hussain, Registered Manager
